Arrived in town & at my hotel late on a Sunday night (around 9pm). I was staying near the Galleria, and needed a quick pho fix. Instead of making the drive to Bellaire, I decided to give this place a shot since it was close. I called and asked how long they were open, and they told me 10:30pm. A hispanic guy answered the phone, which was a bit weird. I asked him how much a large bowl costs, and he told me there is only one size bowl. That set off an alarm that this is not a pho joint, but rather a restaurant that has pho on the menu. I was in a hurry and didn't want to drive far, so I decided to give it a try.

The restaurant itself is very cozy and visually pleasing. I enjoyed the decorations and plants. I noticed the waiters was hispanic, and a helper was also hispanic. I later found out they were Guatemalan. There were 4-5 tables occupied, and most of the tables were hispanics, and Spanish was being spoken in the restaurant more than English. No big deal; just kind of freaky for a Vietnamese restaurant.

They only had two pho dishes, pho tai, and pho ga. We ordered 3 pho tais and an order of cha gio.

The cha gio, although light and crispy, was very sour tasting. Not sure what was up with that. Fish sauce was bland. The veggies were fresh and generous.

The guy brought me wooden tourist chopsticks. Rut roh.

The pho was mediocre. The first thing I noticed that was off was they put purple onions cut much thicker than they should be in the soup. Not a major issue. The broth smelled and tasted like it was whipped up instantly. I could be wrong here, but it just didn't taste fresh. The noodles were mediocre, and the meat was mediocre. In fact, the entire experience was mediocre. That's what I get trying to get a bowl of pho in a restaurant that seemingly largely serves other food.

If you are a big pho fan, I would recommend you avoid this place. If you were in a hotel around the corner late at night and in great need of a quick fix, maybe.
