The first reviewer must have not been in Pho 24 lately. I was there today.

I ate at this restaurant a few years ago and remember not being impressed with the pho. Anyway mom and I had just arrived from a late night at the casinos and wanted some pho. Since it was the only one open at 1 AM, we had no other choice.

I went to the restroom and it had a really bad stench to it, similar to that of a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant.

I ordered the special pho (extra large). I was disappointed at the size. The bowl is as big as the small bowl of other pho restaurants in Houston. The pho broth was not very good. Mom ordered the fresh vietnamese egg rolls. The hoisin and peanut sauce was not very good. The food is pricey and the quality does not live up to the price.
Do not waste your money on this restaurant.

To compound the discontentment with the food, the owner was very rude. The card I gave her would not swipe and she asked me if I had another one. I said yes but asked her to try again. She snarled at me and demanded to have the other card. I bit my lip knowing that I would never go back.

It is no wonder that there are not a lot of customers whenever I drive by everyday. They do not have any competition at night. That is why they are open late. They cannot compete with other pho restaurants in Houston.

Ate there w/family for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon. It wasn't very busy but there were some folks coming and going while there.

The decor of the restaurant is pretty cool, and the place seemed clean. We started out w/the cha gio. I didn't really like it. The egg rolls were small and you get 6 for $6.50, which I thought was a tad bit expensive. The egg rolls had a whole shrimp in them, which I have never seen before. The taste was pretty bland, and the fish sauce was way too salty. Veggies were fresh.

I had a large pho tai chin nam, my wife had a medium pho tai chin, and another person had a medium bowl of noodles only.

My soup was pretty good. Veggies were fresh. The only thing I didn't like about it was the brisket was tough. The noodles were a tad bit hard, but generally, it was a pretty decent bowl in my opinion.

I didn't care for the wooden tourist chopsticks. They should have plastic chopsticks. The place was overall decent. One thing that is kind of neat is you can watch them prepare the soup, as the pho preparation area is not hidden, but rather up front near the cash register.

I would return, but will skip the cha gio next time.
