Vietnamese Scientists Develop Bird Flu Vaccine from Pho Spice

Star anise, one of the many spices used to make pho broth, contains a key substance (shikimic acid) used to produce Tamiflu. This is the drug used to treat the H5N1 virus. Now Viet Nam has a valuable resource to produce this life-saving drug. Pho saves lives!
